We cordially invite all participants to attend the event. In addition to a welcoming address by DGfE Board Chair Anja Tervooren, the speakers of the local organising committee (Prof. Dr. Michael Ritter, Prof. Dr. Daniel Wrana and Prof. Dr. Tanja Sturm) and Prof. Dr. Claudia Becker, Rector of Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, we are particularly pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. Armin Willingmann, Minister for Science and the Environment of Saxony-Anhalt, and Prof. Dr. Thomas Müller-Bahlke, Director of the Francke Foundations. The opening lecture “Crises and Transformations” will be given by Prof. Dr. Fabian Kessl. Panels I – V: Symposia, working groups, thematic and research forums
Symposia are directly related to the conference topic and should comprise a maximum of four scientific presentations, with at least one presentation being given by a scientist in qualification phases. Of the 108 symposia submitted, 66 were accepted.
Working groups are thematically free in their design, but a reference to the congress theme is desirable. Of the 104 working groups submitted, 78 were admitted.
Research and thematic forums are free in terms of content and form. They offer national and international research projects or networks as well as groups of researchers in qualification phases an opportunity for professional exchange. Of the 64 research and thematic forums submitted, 41 were approved.
Of 94 individual contributions submitted, 40 were accepted.
Event times
In order to ensure acceptance of as many of the contributions submitted in the different formats as possible, the Board agreed to the Programme Commission’s proposal to dispense with specific time slots for the different formats.

German Research Foundation (DFG)
The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) is the central self-governing body of the scientific community for the promotion of research at universities and publicly funded research institutions in Germany. In 2022, the DFG funded research projects in the field of educational science and educational research with approx. 11 million euros and is thus an essential source of third-party funding for researchers.
The event will present current information on the DFG’s funding programmes, on how to submit proposals and on the review and decision-making procedures. Which research projects can be supported with which funding instruments? What formalities should be observed when submitting a proposal? When do I need an ethics vote for the application? How should a “good” proposal be structured? How can national and international cooperation be implemented? What criteria are used for review? Who are the reviewers? What does the further decision-making process look like? There will also be the opportunity to discuss questions and problems regarding the acquisition of DFG funding with the representative of the DFG Head Office.
AdHoc groups
The content of AdHoc groups is discipline-political and science-political problems. The content of the AdHoc groups is the responsibility of the submitters, classical as well as alternative forms are welcome. The local organising committee is responsible for reviewing the submitted AdHoc groups. The submissions will be made in the period from 02.10. to 26.11.2023. (Link “Call for AdHoc groups“)
Meeting of the qualifiers
In 2024, scientists in qualification phases will again have the opportunity to exchange and network across sections. The aim of this meeting is, among other things, to inform each other about activities of and for academics in qualification phases and to discuss cross-sectional forms of cooperation and exchange. Furthermore, questions regarding working and employment conditions as well as the role of academics in qualification phases in the DGfE will be addressed, also with a view to the DGfE’s general meeting. We cordially invite all academics in qualification phases to participate.
Educational Science and Educational Research Information Service (FID)
How can open research be supported? What infrastructures do open science practices need and how can established service offerings be rethought in terms of open science? These and similar questions will be discussed together with the participants in this session.
Based on a localisation of Open Science in the field of educational research and the results of an online survey of the subject communities, the services of the Fachportal Pädagogik and the Verbund Forschungsdaten Bildung will be presented and future perspectives discussed.
UNESCO
Our time is characterised by numerous fundamental changes, in the shaping of which UNESCO has a central role to play. These include climate change, the destruction of biodiversity, disturbed biogeochemical cycles, ocean acidification and the pollution of the planet with the risk of destroying the livelihoods of humans, animals and plants. Digitalisation with artificial intelligence and robotics as well as genetics also have an important role to play in the upcoming transformations. Peace and freedom as well as the orientation towards sustainable development also play a central role in these transformations. What do these processes mean in the different regions and cultures of the world? What are the commonalities and differences? Which normative ideas are indispensable in dealing with the crises and transformations? Four examples will be used to present and discuss the tasks, possibilities and working methods of UNESCO.

Poster & Discourse
The session “Poster & Discourse” is designed as a presentation and exchange opportunity for research projects and plans in educational science in both graphic and interactive form. For this purpose, a hybrid format will be offered within the framework of the congress.
Event times & rooms
The posters will be exhibited on 12 March from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Freylinghausen Hall (House 1). Between 13:00 and 14:15 there will be an opportunity to contact the authors about their research projects. In addition, the posters will be available in a digital format here on the homepage both one week before the congress and one week after. In this way, the posters can be fully explored and discussed.
