Submission of contributions
Contributions must be submitted via ConfTool. . The platform has been available since the beginning of February 2023.
Mantle abstract
A template for the mantle abstract for symposia, working groups, research forums and AdHoc groups can be downloaded here as a docx document. The mantle abstract is uploaded in ConfTool after filling the ConfTool fields for the individual contributions in the second step. Please convert the jacket abstract into a PDF file for this purpose. Please make sure that the document name does not contain any information that could be used to identify you for the review process.
Qualification phase
The qualification phase includes both doctoral and post-doctoral work When submitting a symposium, it must be stated in ConfTool which contributions were written by scientists in qualification phases.
Individual contributions
Individual contributions may be submitted as thematic forums, but must explicitly relate to the congress theme. The individual contributions for thematic forums accepted in the review process will be bundled into joint thematic forums by the programme committee.
Multiple appearances
At the GERA Congresses there is a ban on multiple appearances for symposia and working groups. Speakers may only give a lecture in one symposium or one working group. The double appearance ban affects the presenting authors. These are indicated by a corresponding tick in the ConfTool form. Non-presenting co-authors may be listed without the contribution being marked as a “double appearance” (multiple passive co-authorship is permitted). Passive co-authors will also be named in the programme if their contribution is accepted.
Please take this rule into account when submitting your paper, as only peer-reviewed papers can be presented at the congress. This means that new contributions cannot be subsequently included in an event if a speaker decides to attend a different event. On the other hand, it is possible for a person previously marked as a co-author to take over the presentation. However, it is not possible to change the title or abstract.
Participation in the poster session or research forums as well as a function as moderator:in do not count as multiple appearances.
Language of the contributions
Submissions are possible in German and English.
References
For bibliographic information, any short citation without bibliography in the abstract is sufficient. Only the most important statements need to be substantiated. Bibliographic information in the abstract counts as part of the abstract towards the character limit. Please enter the detailed bibliography in the field provided for this purpose in ConfTool.
Parallel lectures
No submissions are possible for the parallel lectures. The speakers will be nominated and invited directly by the GERA board.
Number of characters
For the submission of symposia, research forums, working groups and ad hoc groups, a maximum number of characters of 4,000 (incl. spaces) is specified for the jacket abstract (cross-contribution description of the concept and content of the submission), and a maximum of 1,500 characters (incl. spaces) for the individual contributions.
